Requesting prices from contractors is the very first step towards a possible collaboration. Whether you are working on a small renovation or a complete new construction. However, the quotation price and the final cost can differ a lot. How do you avoid that cold shower? These five tips ensure that you are a lot stronger in your shoes.

1. Be on time

​

Many contractors take the time and effort to prepare a quote free of charge. But don't forget that there are many other candidates. It can safely take several weeks before you receive a proposal in the mail. So request your quote well in advance. That way you don't have to rush into decisions. And you have a better chance of a good place in his agenda.

2. Request multiple quotes at the same time
